Artist BIOgraphy
Alexandra Hartman is a 28 year old artist with a mission to show the magic, beauty and wonder this Universe has to offer. She was born & raised in Denver, Colorado to parents Chris & Ellen. After graduating from South High School (where she met her now-husband Joshua) in May of 2012, she found her place in the arts program at Metropolitan State University of Denver. She received her Bachelor’s of Fine Arts Degree with a concentration in Printmaking in May of 2018. Alexandra & Joshua got married on the island of Kauai that same August, lived in Long Beach, California for a while and then moved back to beloved Colorado at the end of 2020. They have since settled in the small town of Longmont, CO.
Alexandra’s creative practice has primarily explored printmaking but has a lot of digital, drawing, painting & collage elements as well. Favorite media outside of printmaking include chalk pastels, colored pencils, India Ink, acrylic & watercolor paint. Digital media has always been a point of interest but lately she uses it more and more in her daily practice.
She’s interested in a wide range of subject matter including (but not limited to) many different branches of science, mathematics, geometry, astrology, social structures, psychology & the exploration of consciousness itself. Most of the content of her work has to do with her personal phenomonological experience in a physical body, as well as the abstract realms of the mind and spirit.
ARTIST STatement
"As a spiritually influenced artist, my interests range from astronomy and astrology, theology and philosophy, to microbiology and quantum physics. My drive to observe, learn and speculate started as a natural curiosity. This then developed into a deeper intuition and belief that I am actually observing myself in the infinite.
Or in other words, I am observing God.
Science is ultimately the study of spirit and consciousness as it manifests in reality. It's fitting and natural to integrate the two, not keep them separate and distinct. Continuing to explore and experience consciousness and the possibilities of the Universe through science, art, spirituality, etc. has grown within me the need to share these thoughts, experiences, perceptions. I would love nothing more than for others to experience the state of curiosity & awe that I feel at both the Universe and life itself.
Inspiration comes from without and within; a constant push and pull and a deep connection with the Universe and myself. I find fascination in life from the smallest particles in quantum physics to the incomprehensibly large scale of celestial bodies and the cosmos. For me they are all seamlessly and beautifully connected, as everything imaginable is a reflection and manifestation of Spirit and Divine Consciousness. To observe and explore life in all its forms is to celebrate consciousness itself."
